Our Mission
Organization Profile
Housing First began in 1992 when a handful of Juneau residents became concerned about the lack of affordable housing for single people. Their response was to build a seven-unit apartment building downtown Juneau, using a number of funding sources. In 1996, Housing First opened its second apartment building in Douglas, with 15 units. The next year, it built two houses for low-income home buyers. For information on renting from Housing First go to our 'rentals' page.
Housing First has also operated the Home Opportunity Program, which offers no-interest loans to low-to-moderate-income homebuyers. For more information on the HOP Program, take a look at the HOP Program page.

The Housing First Board of Directors meets monthly, and the public is welcome to attend. To receive an agenda, call the office at 463-1276 or use the contact us form to email Housing First.
